I’m Trevor, founder of the RAW — Real And Wild Photography Awards. We are doing things a bit differently.
Inclusion comes without a pricetag here because every image submitted for this competition must be taken within 100km of home — removing travel privilege and leveling the playing field globally.
But more importantly, it shifts how we see the natural world. By keeping photographers local, RAW reduces environmental impact while fostering deep, repeated engagement with place.
And when people devote themselves to familiar animals or landscapes, they begin to care more. Stewardship follows. You don’t fight for what you don’t love.
At the same time, RAW is building a global visual record of local environments in transition — documenting real change, in real places, over time. We are creating a more equitable, lower-impact, and more meaningful future for nature photography — and inviting partners to help lead that shift.
